Bob, Karon and Holland follow the Mother Road from Chicago to Los Angeles, detouring to Las Vegas and finishing the trip in San Francisco.
Plenty of planning went into this trip. Flights were booked – in to Chicago and out from San Francisco, a hire car, accommodation along the way and tickets/bookings for some of the attractions. It was a pretty full itinerary but we still had time to explore.

When we first got there, there were only a few people gathered in front of the stage. It was obvious something was 'on' so we settled down for a rest and 'people watched' as the audience gathered. After an hour or so, we were treated to a concert of Copland, Arnold and Brahms played by the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus.
